Shamanite Bracelet with Quartz
Shamanite was recently discovered (2005) on privately-owned remote alpine property in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. After a year of geological research, this is now the only known deposit throughout the entire Rocky Mountain range and North America. It is said to be over 540 million years old and contains many trace minerals and micro-fossils. Shamanite is believed to be used by Native Americans for centuries for ceremonial objects. Shamanite has often been mistaken for Jet. Its color ranges from inky-black to a smoky taupe and mocha-brown. Shamanite is sometimes called “Toho”(Mountain Lion”) by tribal healers and artists.
What I noticed first in holding the stone is that it is very gentle to the touch even though it is hard, it has a soft feel to it. I wanted to rub its surface like a worry stone, turning the stone over and over in my hand. It felt very comfortable and familiar almost like a well worn coat that served to keep me warm and protected from the cold.
In reading Robert Simmons new book, Stones for the New Consciousness, he writes that Shamanite can be very useful for initiating shamanic journeys and it can help one to connect inwardly with power animals and spirit guides. It is a stone of the ancestors, aiding in communication with spiritual elders and guides on the other side as well as loved ones who have passed. It is a stone of soul retrieval. Shamanite offers spiritual protection to those who simply wear or carry it.
I am offering several pieces of Shamanite for sale on my web site http://www.spiralsoflight.com/gemstones-crystals-photo-gallery. Also available, Shamanite bracelets. See my Healing Jewelry web page: http://www.spiralsoflight.com/healing-jewelry.html
Today begins the year of the Oxen. Ox and all cattle are blessed by the Chinese Goddess Quan Yin. Quan Yin is considered the personification of compassion and kindness, she is the Mother Goddess, patron of Mothers. I enjoy making jewelry with the lovingkindness energy of Quan Yin. I was very fortunate to find a truly exquisite depiction of Quan Yin carved into a Quartz pendant. It was easy to design a gemstone beaded necklace for her. I chose clear Quartz beads with a sprinkle of rich red faceted Garnet beads. Garnet has a strong feminine energy and lots of vitality. Just looking at the Quan Yin carved into this pendant gives me a feeling of kindness and love. Nice to know that she will be a guiding energy throughout this year.
It is said that people who are born in the year of the OX are methodical, dependable, hardworking, patient and ethical.
The year of the Ox is a time of hard work, discipline and duty. This would be a good time to set goals and stick to them. Go to Goddess Quan Yin if you need assistance in getting clear of your intentions and goals.

As I unpack all the wonderful gems, crystals and beads I purchased at the trade show this past weekend, new jewelry designs flow through my head. I’ve been wanting to add some new designs to the Yoga jewelry line. Now I have some incredible new beads and pendants to work with.
Its always so much fun to bring these gifts from Mother Earth home. I can now take my time, look over these semi-precious jewels, feel their energies and put them into healing jewelry designs.
I also purchased some stones brand new to my healing gemstone collection. These will be introduced at my next crystal and gemstone class.
I stocked up on more Selenite wands. These are so smooth to the touch. I enjoy holding them because they can melt away any negativity I am carrying around. Not only did I find Selenite wands, I purchased Selenite in its many different forms. A beautiful Selenite castle weighing over 8 pounds, is carved from the inside so that a night light can be put into it. What a glow this one gives out. It reminds me of the Rocky Mountains near where I live in Colorado. (For more information on Selenite go to my Web site) New for me is a stone called Petalite. While I’ve seen this stone over the years I never purchased it in its smooth tumbled form before. Placing the round stones into the display basket, I became mesmerized by them. Each one calling me to look deeper. What other messages will they share with me? Bringing new stones to my customers keeps this business fun and exciting. Now back to more unpacking!
