Lotus Flowers And The Chakras

I love creating jewelry with the lotus flower.

Lotus flowers are associated with the 7 main Chakra energy centers. Each Chakra has a different shape lotus flower. I found these wonderful sterling silver charms with the lotus flower of each chakra on one side and the name of the chakra on the other side. I combined the chakra charms with 7 different gemstones which correspond to the chakras to create this Chakra Balancing Necklace. To purchase the necklace go to my web site

The first Chakra, located at the base of the spine is called the Root Chakra or Muladhara chakra. The first chakra is symbolized by a lotus flower with four petals, and its shape is triangular.

The second Chakra, located just below the belly button is called the Sacral Chakra or Swadishthana. The second chakra is represented by a six-petaled lotus and is circular in shape. >> Continue reading

Gemstones From Around The World

crystal ball- gemshow
I recently returned from a buying trip at Denver International Gem & Mineral show. Shopping at the Denver Gem show is like taking a trip around the world.  I visited gems dealers from all corners of the globe, many who hardly speak a word of english. They bring with them amazing and exquisite mineral specimens in all sizes and shapes.  This year was no exception.  Its like visiting a fine Mineral museum.  In fact this show is where many buyers from museums come to find additions to their collections. Some of these gifts from the mineral kingdom can literally take your breath away

Here is a list of just some of the things I purchased.

  • Blue Celestite from Madagascar
  • Seraphinite and Charoite from Russia
  • Shiva Lingams from India
  • Nuummite from Greenland ( 3 billon years old)
  • Lapis from Afghanistan
  • Blue Kyanite from Brazil
  • Brand new to market Orange Kyanite from Tanzania
  • Malachite from Africa
  • Black Tourmaline from China
  • Larimar from the Dominican Republic
This show is so much fun not only to buy treasures but also to take in all the beauty that Mother Earth has to offer us. >> Continue reading

Peridot for Well Being

I love Peridot.  Maybe because it is my birthstone. Peridot is the birthstone for August.  But I didn’t always love it.  I can remember as a kid getting the yellow green stone for my birthday and wishing my birthstone was more exciting, like maybe the rich color of purple Amethyst or bright shiny Diamond.  It wasn’t until I was much older that my appreciation  for Peridot took hold.  Once I discovered its subtle energies I was won over.

Peridot has a long history of uses.  The Egyptians made Peridot beads  2,500 years ago.  It was also used to make rings and other jewelry. In Greece and Rome Peridot is considered a stone of royalty.  Since ancient times Peridot was viewed as a symbol of the sun. Sometimes it was worn as a protection stone.  Peridot was believed to bring wealth to the wearer.

For me these  green gemstones represent pure positive feelings of well being.  Whenever I am the slightest bit down if I hold or wear Peridot, I can feel my sense of well being return.  This stone uplifts me.  Its energies always bring a smile to my face and lightens my load.  It is a bright sunny gemstone eager to assist.  It is a stone that can warm and open the heart.  We all feel better when we open our heart to all the goodness that exists.  Its a reminder for me of all the good in my life.

Peridot’s vibration can bring an inner sense of warmth and well being, like sunshine on a spring day. >> Continue reading

Tips on how to connect to the goddess within

Crystals, Gemstones and Goddess Jewelry

I love creating Goddess jewelry.  I am always on the look out for goddess pendants to use in my goddess necklaces. I enjoy working with gemstones that are associated with the goddess and the energies of the sacred divine feminine.
Some of my favorite goddess stones are:
  • Moonstone- It is associated with the feminine and is called “The Goddess Stone”. It can enhance the intuitive side of the mind. Moonstone has been used to connect with the energy and power of the moon.
  • Amazonite- It offers us a place of quiet compassion. It encourages us to release self judgment and connect to our own power with joy and confidence. It is an empowering stone and can provide inner fulfillment when we recognize the power we hold within.
  • Garnet- Is known as a feminine energy stone. It stimulates the root chakra and the heart, allowing for manifestation of one’s heart felt desires in the world.

Why do Yoga?

yoga-teton1Someone asked me the other day why I create yoga and chakra jewerly.  Good question I responded and answered with—  I began designing yoga and chakra jewelry as a way to support my own yoga practice.  The next question followed, why do you do yoga?  Even bigger question.  Lots of answers came to mind, but the next day I received this email from my friends at  Pathways www.pathwaysbayfield.com. This description of yoga really helps explain why yoga is so important to my life and why I love creating jewelry to help inspire the yoga path.

Why Yoga?
Developed in India, yoga is a spiritual practice that has been evolving for the last 5,000 years or so. The original yogis were reacting, in part, to India’s ancient Vedic religion, which emphasized rituals. The yogis wanted a direct spiritual experience — one on one — not symbolic ritual.

Gemstone Jewelry Inspired by Nature

Florida KeysI am en-route from my winter home in the Florida Keys to my summer home in southwest  Colorado.  Driving through this great big country, I am in awe of the beauty of nature I see passing before me.  As I look out the window I see lots and lots of color. Mostly green.  All shades of green.  I begin to associate the colors with the energy of gemstone beads and before I know it am designing gemstone necklaces in my mind.  I am seeing the light yellow green of Peridot mixing with a deeper shade of Green with Jade add in some brown pearls and the field of freshly planted corn comes alive in a new gemstone necklace.  More Peridot now added with yellow citrine reflects the green pasture that is beaming with yellow flowers.
The sky has been stormy for some of this trip and I am reminded of  some nicely faceted Labradorite beads  with color flashes of gold for the lightening that lights up the distant sky.  As we were driving out of the Keys, the water was all shades of blue-green, melting into the deeper shades of blue reflecting in the sky.  I would choose Chrysoprase, Sodalite, and bright blue Turquoise for that necklace. >> Continue reading

Celebrate Buddha’s Birth: Meditate!

This full Moon, May 9th, is one of the most auspicious dates in the Tibetan Buddhist Calendar. The May full moon is known as Wesak, the celebration of the birth and Ascension of Gautama Buddha and the enlightened consciousness of the Buddha within humanity. It is an excellent time to do meditation practice, as the benefits and merit for all sentient beings are exponentially multiplied.

Many teachers say it is a time when all the Masters of all beliefs are present. At this time we have the ability to access sacred knowledge, a deeper understanding of universal law, and a higher consciousness. An opening is created through the veil of obscurity, and we have an opportunity to actually see and know the true nature of things.

I will be practicing the Prajna Paramita practice with the Key West Tara Mandala Sangha. >> Continue reading
