Falling In Love With Rose Quartz- A Heart Chakra Meditation

February 1st, 2010
Over the past several weeks I immersed  myself in heart chakra stones. I wanted to put together a collection of Heart Chakra jewerly as part of my Valentine’s day jewelry sale. I took out all of my pink gemstone beads and began designing Heart opening necklaces.  The more I worked with Rose Quartz the more I feel in love with this stone all over again.   All pink and green stones are Heart Chakra stones. There are many pink and green gemstones in the mineral kingdom and I have a vast collection of  these heart stones.  It is easy to over look the lovely soft Rose Quartz.  As I worked with Rose Quartz I began to connect once again to its amazing energies.
While the vibration of Rose Quartz is soft and gentle, it is also very powerful.  This stone reminds us that love begins with ourselves. Rose Quartz is all about self love and self nurturing.

Meditating with rose quartz can help to release emotional wounds that hold our hearts closed. Its softness allows us to slowly and delicately look at the hurts we experience and one by one let it go and open back to love. Meditating with Rose Quartz gives us the opportunity to be surrounded in love energy. Here is a short meditation using the Gemstone Rose Quartz.

While laying down, place a Rose Quartz on your Heart Chakra.  Close your eyes and breath slowly and deeply, quieting the mind.  Begin to feel the vibration of the Rose Quartz on your Heart Chakra. Visualize the color pink.  Begin at your feet and slowly move the soft pink color up and over your body until your whole body is bathed in the loving, compassionate and peaceful energy that is Rose Quartz.  Allow yourself several minutes to be in this calm and loving space. When you feel ready place both your hands over the stone as it sits on your Heart Chakra and once again become aware of your breath. With each in breath, breathe in the loving energy of the Rose Quartz, with each out breath, breathe out hurt, fear, worry or any other emotion that is blocking your heart.  Do this several times until you begin to feel a peacefulness, a calm throughout your body.  You can say to yourself, I am love, I am loved, repeat several times.  When you feel ready, place your hands down by your sides and feel love, feel your heart warm and open to receive all the love that is here for you.  When you feel ready open your eyes and give yourself a great big hug.

Rose Quartz can help us open to receive love from ourselves and others.  Do you have difficulty being kind to yourself?  This is your stone.
This Valentine’s day fall in love with yourself. Let Rose Quartz remind you to do something just for you.

Garnet- Birthstone for January

January 17th, 2010
Vibrant, rich, red. Those words describe January’s birthstone: Red Garnet. Garnets are found in many colors including red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, black, pink and colorless. The rarest of these is the blue Garnet. The  Red Garnet is the most common and known as the birthstone for January as adopted by the American National Association of Jewelers in 1912. Garnets were used ever since the Bronze Age.  They were used in Ancient Egypt. They were also found in ancient Greece and Roman civilizations. Even today, Garnets are still a popular and much loved gemstone.

Garnets are known as a feminine energy stone.  Over my 20 plus years of selling stones, I have witnessed over and over the strong appeal Garnet holds for women.  Some women just seemed drawn to its feminine energies and find it difficult to wear any other stone but Garnet!
Garnet stimulates the Root Chakra and the Heart Chakra, making it a useful stone to bring your heartfelt desires into the world. Garnet is known as a manifestation stone because of this quality.
Garnet assists us in maintaining a sense of calm and grounded connection to the present moment. Who doesn’t need some assistance with staying calm and grounded these days?  Garnet is a useful stone for meditation as it does help us to stay present and in the moment.
Garnet is a stone that often represents physical love and the relationship between loving partners. (Think Valentine’s day) Garnet is an excellent stone to attract or invigorate a love relationship. Are you looking to attract a lover?  Keep some Garnet by your bed. Garnet is also used as a fertility stone and to increase sexual desires. Fertility here can also mean to help birth or create an idea into form.
Garnet is a stone which helps you to feel supportive and in balance. Garnet’s message is to trust in the infinite abundance of the universe

Garnet asks us: What are you wanting to bring into the world?
Garnet doesn’t have to be your birthstone to be enjoyed.  If you feel an attraction to this beautiful stone, enjoy its many qualities.
One of my favorite Garnet necklaces is this Spiral Garnet Goddess.  To me it sums up the true nature of this gemstone.
