Celebrate Buddha’s Birth: Meditate!

May 8, 2009

Buddha Necklace

Buddha Necklace

This full Moon, May 9th, is one of the most auspicious dates in the Tibetan Buddhist Calendar. The May full moon is known as Wesak, the celebration of the birth and Ascension of Gautama Buddha and the enlightened consciousness of the Buddha within humanity. It is an excellent time to do meditation practice, as the benefits and merit for all sentient beings are exponentially multiplied.

Many teachers say it is a time when all the Masters of all beliefs are present. At this time we have the ability to access sacred knowledge, a deeper understanding of universal law, and a higher consciousness. An opening is created through the veil of obscurity, and we have an opportunity to actually see and know the true nature of things.

I will be practicing the Prajna Paramita practice with the Key West Tara Mandala Sangha. This practice is often called the “short course” to the true understanding of the nature of mind. We will also explore the Heart Sutra, an essential discourse on Prajna Paramita. This beautiful reading explores the concept of “Form is emptiness, Emptiness is form, Form is not other than emptiness, Emptiness is not other than Form.”

No matter what type of meditation you practice, this is a great time to meditate.
Amethyst is always a great gemstone to assist in meditation.
This Turquoise Buddha necklace is available from my web site, www.spiralsoflight.com/yoga-jewelry.html
